Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that clean and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning robot mop and vacuum both dry debris and wet messes in one go without the need to switch devices. They can also help save storage space compared to having two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good robot vacuum combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacles avoidance. Look for models that have docks that allow them to automatically empty their bins, refill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has plenty to offer for its low cost and is one of the easiest robots we've tested to install. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you up and running with a clean, full dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in no time at all.

The S1 Pro is a powerful little machine that cleans up a mess and vacuums well too. The mops spin at high speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, which makes short work of pet hair, dirt and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, as well as a selection of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app that lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like to do for each room.

For instance, you can opt for the robot to clean up the kitchen and living rooms but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It is able to detect small obstacles that other models are unable to. Its only minor issue is that it can smash into walls and other objects at full speed. However, an instant glance at the history of cleaning within the app will show you exactly what it's doing, where it's going and the obstacles it's run into or avoided.

And you can see the entire cleaning information in the app, which is well laid out and easily understood, though we would have liked to be able distinguish between a mop only vacuum and a vacuum/mop clean when looking at a clean area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's most popular robot vacuum and mop. This year's model has a double agitator built into its mopping pad. This enhances the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an enhanced suction power that enables it to remove smaller hairs as well as other debris other robotic hoovers cleaners might miss.

This Roborock model, like the other two I tried, has infrared and reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it overcome obstacles like furniture, walls and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by adding a dual camera which can detect objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It can then automatically change its path and clean the objects without a pause.

It's the most expensive model I've tried, but it also has the most features. Its sleek and angular design is striking and only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which also restarts the cleaning mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles up as a child-lock and a home button to take the robot vacuum cleaners best to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin fills up automatically.

The only negative I found with this model is that its VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. It is possible to replace the mopping cloth when needed, but it's difficult to remove the mount for washing manually. I've observed that any soft carpet the robot crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a number smart features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can set up and manage these using the Roborock app, which is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor the battery life and maintain your components. However, you'll have to go through a few hoops to enable voice control with this model which is unfortunate considering the performance of this model.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop equipped with incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and innovative features. Its intelligent design allows you to personalize and efficiently clean while reducing time.

The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner that can deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the top options available. This powerful vacuum can clear up pet hair dust, crumbs and any other dry debris. It also comes with a high-quality mop that leaves hard floors spotlessly clean, even with a wet pad. The X40 is also extremely quiet in operation, with only occasional bursts during modes changes or self-maintenance.

The X40 has a side brush that can be extended and lifted. This lets it reach into corners that are difficult to reach and clean furniture that is curved like chairs and table legs. It also allows the robot to access low-profile furniture which makes it a great option for apartments or condos with limited space. The side brush also automatically lowers itself when it spots wet spots, which is a nice feature that helps the X40 keep floors safe from damage caused by excessive back-and-forth movements.

Contrary to other robots, which are limited to a single task, the X40 can vacuum and mop at the same time. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors and skip carpeted areas, and reverse the process. It can be controlled using the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is simple to use and understand, and the X40 has many smart features that are easy to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times. It is also possible to alter suction power, alter modes, view maps and floor plans, and control mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress and notify you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with numerous features that make it a perfect choice for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin and wash the mop pads and refill them with fresh cleaning solution and water. It can also detect whether the mop pad is at its maximum capacity and alert you to the situation before it spills.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available on the market. It has a number of characteristics that make it stand out. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. This uses two high-speed mops to clean floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and it comes with the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can vacuum up pet hair and small dirt particles as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

The mop is cleaned and dried at the base station each time they are used. This is a fantastic feature because it prevents the growth of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and also makes the mop system more efficient. This is an option we haven't seen in other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great way to keep your home cleaner longer.

There are a lot of choices, including the possibility to schedule cleanings and change preferences. The app lets you define these preferences, or use the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and has many options to customize your cleaning routine. The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen on market, with a white and metallic design that is elegant and stylish. It's a bit heavier than some of the other two-in-1 robots on this list - at around 4kg but it's not too heavy, and feels sturdy and well-built. The mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mop works well on hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
