How to Replace an audi replacement key cost uk G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician teaches how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is located on the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a message to the ECU through an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.

The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 via the grey wire. The ECU utilizes this information to control boost and fuel. It also sends signals to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and the position of the camshaft, in order to activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails the ECU will display an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft aren't in sync, possibly indicating chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper chain of timing. However the code will not appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It can be a bit difficult to test as there are several pins on the connector and each one has different functions. The best way to do it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms if the sensor is operating at its maximum. If you are having problems with this component, look for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

    2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll, I experienced a big cut in power like the engine is running out of gas or injectors aren't firing at all. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were soaked in gasoline, and the fourth was dry. When I start the engine without sparks, i place a tissue on the top of each hole in the injector and the 3 drenched with gazoline jump out but the 4th one stays shut. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got zero ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it is running fine with the G28 plugged in. However, the intermittent misfire problem persists at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.

I'm not sure what to do, but i think i've pretty much completely ruled out all other possibilities. But i'm worried that I might have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please chime in! TIA!

    3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. It is easy to find a spare in a wrecking shop or parts store. It is easy to test them - simply switch your DMM into resistance mode and determine the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector end facing upwards). They should be infinite Ohms.

    4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines requires to know both the position and speed of the crankshaft to determine timing of the fuel injector, etc. To do this, it makes use of a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these sensors go wrong, you will receive codes on the diagnostic scanner which can lead to engine shutdown.

A failing G28 sensor can cause an inaccurate gearbox speed counter and a gearbox which shifts faster than normal, or a misfire in the gear. It is probable that the sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you notice any of these signs. They're cheap and easy to find especially when they're an Bosch sensor like ours. Alternatively, the GM version of this unit is also a great option.

    5. Tachometer

A damaged engine sensor could cause a myriad of issues within your vehicle. It is an important part of the transmission in your audi car key cover because it relays information to the ECU about how fast or slow the engine of the replacement car key audi is spinning. If this sensor fails, it can cause problems for the transmission as well as the rest of the car's components.

Mercedes-Benz-3D-Star.pngThe G5 engine speed sensor is located on the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal directly to the ECU at pin T55/49 via a grey wire. The ECU then uses and processes the signal to control fuel, timig, and boost, audi advanced key and also transmitting it to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by examining the continuity between it and the tachometer. You can also check continuity between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection on pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should see approximately 1000 ohms resistance between these two points. This is a common part across the audi spare key cost 80 100, 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC until the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best parts could be found in wrecking yards.
