Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and equipment with new affixes, boosting its stats base or giving additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Items with weak bases, such as rings can be upgraded to a stronger base. Items with strong bases, such as the Titans of eth have little change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute benefit, or additional effect, when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, retrieved in loot from enemies, or gotten from missions and chests. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be at a certain level before they are upgraded.

To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, players must select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade statistics and the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three types of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from previous versions in several important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can be upgraded a specific number of times before being "leveled out."
