This fridge was the top-rated refrigerator in our Refrigerators Test for several reasons. The freezer temperature remained steady at just above 0° Fahrenheit and never fluctuated by more than a fraction, this is crucial to prevent freezing burn. The fridge section of the refrigerator also performed well. It reached the temperature it was set within a matter of hours, and maintained the temperature throughout our tests.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth refrigerator is a great choice for those who need lots of space within a small frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge has the standard French-door layout, with gallon-sized door bins at each door, two rows of spill-capture shelves and a set of crisper drawers. The top right shelf can be folded down to give taller items more room. There's also a full-width drawer for deli and an inside water dispenser.

The refrigerator comes with an ice maker, making it easy to move the frozen ice as needed. The freezer is designed with thoughtful elements, too, like sliding drawers to help you to organize the place of your items. It also comes with a large bin that can accommodate plenty of frozen food and a separate storage bin for ice.

Smart InstaView panel is a cool feature of the refrigerator. You can control the temperature, lighting, and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It's a simple method to monitor your refrigerator and manage it, especially when you're away from home.

However, while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it does not necessarily add to the overall performance of the refrigerator. In fact it took longer to defrost and chill food in this fridge than other refrigerators we test. This is likely due to the larger capacity.

The doors pose a problem with this refrigerator. The handles with a sunken design allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However, taller people still struggle to close them without slamming them. It would have been much better if they had front-mounted handle.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a good choice for those who want to combine the advantages of a french door fridge ice maker-door refrigerator's aesthetics with an efficient layout. Its capacity is higher than average for a counter-depth model and it cools evenly and has a great layout. It's also a bit less than the best counter-depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which helps make it a popular choice.
