How to Replace Door Handles

The door handles that you have in your home are an essential element of your design. A new handle can bring your home's decor and interior up-to-date.

As time passes, your knobs for your doors can begin to feel stiff and even break. These are signs that it's time to replace the knobs. This guide will help you select the appropriate replacement bifold door handles handle for your home.

Door Knobs

Latch

Strike Plate

It is common to replace a door handle because it feels loose, or does not lock properly. This is usually due to misaligned components in the latching mechanism, such as a strike plate that's too short or moved up or down on the doorjamb as time passes. This project allows you to replace your old strikeplate with an extended one, which can provide better security for your door and keep it shut.

To determine if the issue is caused by the strike plate, apply some lipstick or similar marking material on the bolt that is used to latch. Close the door, then try to latch it. If the mark is below the strike plate hole this indicates that your aluminium door handles won't latch because the plate isn't long enough. If the mark is higher or below the strikeplate hole the strikeplate has likely been moved up or downward on the doorjamb.
