    World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items can be used to improve the stats of a particular item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can boost the rarity of an item or mark Level and increase other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.

    Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all its leveled up benefits (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrading items can be expensive depending on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to the number of perks that must be changed in order to upgrade an item.

item level upgrade level is a commonly used measure of power, and can be seen on all tooltips of items. It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is capped at an lower level). Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.

Using the item level will allow players to compare the strength of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it will be capable of dealing with. The level of an item can be used to compare items when examining the inventory of a seller.

The item level can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full description of the item, including its value. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are several theories about the method by which the level of an item is calculated. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula that calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that various perks have different value, and also that gems in sockets increase the overall value of the item. This could result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is usually very close to Blizzards actual level of the item.

This is not the only factor that influences the value of an item. The location of where the item was dropped can change its stats. For instance, it could increase the item's haste, or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

    Item Stats

Item stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stats of a base weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat mods, which are themselves increased by the player's skill.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats of the item. The rarity of an item determines the cost of upgrading. An item that is white or grey for instance, can only be upgraded one time however, items that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes could provide the item extra damage, add a special ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by giving an exclusive name to the item.

All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window, pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which of the available stats they want to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges of an item are determined by the item level, but all items are guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the specified range, unless it is an exclusive item or the result of a God roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another thing that can be modified by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to boost. Similar to base equipment, it will have to be done per item, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't display all possible stats at once.

    Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the likelihood of locating items, the properties that are generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives players the possibility to obtain better equipment earlier in the game, item upgrader and is therefore more useful in the early game than later ones since most players prefer greater weapon scaling and defense over damage gains.

Luck can also boost the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances that increase with each item level. These can also be increased by using anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted with the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of an item up to 140.

Moreover, certain items, like the Hollow infused weapon can be used to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items are available at the store, or they can be constructed using the right ingredients.

    Item Failure

Item upgrades are costly and not every upgrade will be successful. However, there are cash shop items which allow players to increase their success rate or prevent them from losing an item in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much success rates can be increased and the probability of an upgrade failing cannot be greater than 100%..

The performance of an can be affected by the luck of the item. Each item has a success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

The upgrade item overlays of the item are rendered above the items in the inventory. This could block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader (Suggested Resource site) CORE client config.
