UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time the handles on your doors will get worn out and will require replacement. In this case, it is important that the new handles conform to the critical dimensions of the old handle.

The three measurements to check are the top screw's location, lever and key hole dimensions. Use the size guide to aid you.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever or lever door handle is a modern handle that can be put in on replacement or new doors. This type of handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. This handle is available from several manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

Lever Pad

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are typically found on uPVC doors, but they can also be found on other types of doors. They work by using a key that unlock a cylinder case which will reveal pins that can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, permitting them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with external and internal doors generally requiring different levels of security.

Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is vitally important; this depends on the way your doors and handle are utilized. External doors, for instance, should be fitted with cylinders with greater security, whereas internal doors can be secured using an ordinary cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders come with additional features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

To make sure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to each end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this while the lock is in place however when this isn't possible, you can remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks, such as lock snapping, so it is important to make sure it's not too long.

Most modern cylinders are made with bump and anti-drill features built into their design. These are designed to reduce the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to turn in a new direction. This will help deflect the attack, and ensure your door is secure.

Some cylinders are designed to resist snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located in the base of your door handle's backplate, providing a spring solution that returns the multipoint lock handles back to their original position after use.
