Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade, commonly called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases the stats linearly.

Players can recycle six items at a time to get a gauge of each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling items increases depending on their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to boost the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished through a variety of methods, including by using upgrade components or increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. Many items can also be reforged to boost their stats.

Upgradeable items can be found in the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also make them. Upgrade components are the primary way to upgrade equipment. These are items that can be inserted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with upgrade slots, and most require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others give a general bonus.

There are many types of upgrade components available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments can be used in any kind of equipment and offer fewer bonuses than those that are equipment type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs are only available in gathering tools. They offer a range of bonuses, from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing extra crafting material.

To upgrade an item, simply select it in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected stats will be after the upgrade, and any materials or components required. If you don't have enough of either the two, the Upgrade button will be marked as Blocked.

The upper-right side of the screen shows the amount of upgrade components required for a particular item. The cost of an upgrade increases with the level of the upgrade and its rarity, but it can be reduced by various methods, such as buying upgrades at a merchant or trading them with other players.

Most weapons can be upgraded using the use of a prefix upgrade like an insignia, or a rune. Many can be upgraded using an upgrade suffix. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the name of the item like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to convey information via visuals. They animate to capture the attention of the viewers and trigger curiosity in the brain. The animation of glyphs resembles body language, which makes them more effective at conveying a message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs also improve the recall of messages by creating an emotional connection in the brain.

Each glyph increases the value of a stat by a specific amount. This is clearly displayed on the item, when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is not the actual amount at which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum value by which it is able to do so. The value of the glyph depends on the tier and quality of the item you are admiring.

Most upgrade components slotted into items are not able to be repaired or replaced without dismantling the equipment in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use, but it hasn't been incorporated to gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.

You can remove any glyph with the help of the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item where the glyph is located will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be recovered with the glyph shards.

When you take away an item upgrades after adding a glyph the shards of that glyph will disappear. You can also add a glyph to your equipment to give it an additional benefit. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly rather than all at once. This is helpful for players who take many hits from their enemies however do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens are used to change the affixes that are placed on weapons and equipment. They can be obtained from many sources, such as mysterious boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an affix randomly chosen and usually better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can be used to boost weapon stats for more damage or bonuses.

Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the upgrade items menu, however they can still receive upgrades. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button, which changes the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to recycle. Recycling an item adds a small amount of points to its level gauge. The amount is determined by the item's rarity and its level, which means items with higher levels are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.

Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits to upgrade units. Rerolls are based on a % chance for a weapon's trait. If it scores higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower the weapon is left as it was. Weapons can be repeatedly rolled up to three times.

Rerolling is an excellent way to upgrade an item. However, players should be aware of the fact that the total ilvl is decreased by the number of that it took to reroll it to the final level. This effect is most evident on rings and Diadems, because they are the only options to increase the ilvl.

Some players have complained that the reroll system is expensive. It's better to allow people to pay for it with money or food items that will allow players to make adjustments to their builds without spending excessive amounts of time. However the paid rerolls aren't something the developers want to implement at this point in the game's development. They are planning to add the ability for players to alter their race in the near future.

Leveling

There are several ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade, which increases the value of an upgrade for any stat. The second is to increase the effect of an upgrade, which increases the healing or damage of a given stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will maintain its iLevel, Item Upgrade but be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.

It is crucial to keep in mind that upgrades are random. In the majority of cases the chance of a better roll will result from glyphs, but there are also chances for more or unique rolls.
