WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item level upgrade owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which will show an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Upgraders for items can be found in many places, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players finish certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.

In Season 3, the upgrade items system has been tweaked a bit, with some new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less, even when they are part of a different gear set.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available when certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a few options. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item upgrader mod level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. The use of these currencies isn't too complicated however, the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade items process. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for item Level upgrade any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests only have one purpose, so it's important to use them properly. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
