The best robot vacuum that mops Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as dirt detector) are positives.

Make sure to check your robot vacuums with mop's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and works when you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, Best Robot Hoover however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, however it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic automatic vacuum cleaner/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum and mop employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or via voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also grants access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
