BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost uses the data bus CAN to communicate with your vehicle. This prevents thieves from putting in a new key or even replacing the ECU to bypass your security system since it requires a correct PIN code to start the engine.

The Ghost is unlike other immobilisers as it doesn't use key-fobs or LED indicators. Instead, it makes use of the buttons on your vehicle to allow you to select a unique disarm sequence that only you know.

Stop & Start

Service Mode / Valet Mode

Anti-Hijack

With high-tech thieves becoming more and more sophisticated, the security technology has to change, that's why Ghost has created this discrete and non-obtrusive immobiliser. It is designed to stop thieves from putting in an ignition key or replacing the ECU to start your car and drive it off. Ghost connects to your CAN network and uses buttons on your vehicle to create an individual push-sequence that has to be entered before the engine can start.

This will activate the anti-hijack mode and, once it is activated, any attempt to start the engine will be blocked. Once the system detects that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, if it fails to identify the correct code it will also stall the engine (where it is). By entering your push sequence, or entering service mode, you can deactivate the Anti-Hijack feature. This allows your vehicle to start temporarily without having to enter the PIN.

If you own an GPS device connected to your BMW it is possible to utilize it to disable the Anti-Hijack function to allow you to use your navigation system when the vehicle is parked. You can also use your smart-phone to control the anti theft feature and other functions.

We can connect your Ghost device to your mobile app for remote control of keyless go and start functionality. This is useful if a valet or mechanic has to start your car but you need to go somewhere and not in the vicinity. The system allows you to start the vehicle by selecting drive, then quit the service mode without the need to use your key fobs. You can also see your vehicle in real time on a map on your smartphone, ideal to track your car while moving around.

The Ghost Immobiliser Car can be placed in the dashboard area, or in the center console. It is completely hidden and secure, and does not require any additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicle's CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personalised PIN code is inserted into it. This pin code needs to be selected before the vehicle is started. This will prevent thieves from gaining access to the system with the cloned or replaced ECU.

If the vehicle is stolen the Ghost will enter service mode and disable all functions unless you have a PIN code or the mobile application to disable it. This feature was developed to safeguard your vehicle from thieves using high-tech devices who employ relay boxes to take it. It will even stop the thieves from being able to use their mobile phones to activate your sat nav system or MP3 player to track your car!

Ghost also stops 'Relay Style Frequency Amplification'. This is the most frequent method of stealing a vehicle with a keyfob which has been cloned, or stolen through hacking. Ghost lets you stop this theft by installing a device called Secure-A Key inside your vehicle. The device installs inside your vehicle's key-fob and removes the battery after a few minutes of inactivity, this can be done on most modern PKE key-fobs.
